Minds on Mountains 2024

An Interdisciplinary Mountain Studies Conference

Minds on Mountains is a distinctly mountain oriented conference seeking interdisciplinary collaboration from departments across the Montana State University system. Any graduate students or professors whose work revolves around mountains are welcome to submit papers for presentation. This conference seeks to forge strong interdepartmental bonds within MSU honing this University’s distinct place as one of “Mountains and Minds.” Join us for an interdisciplinary conversation on mountain landscapes, ecosystems, and art!

Minds on Mountains is operated by the Mountains Working Group in the History and Philosophy department at Montana State University. Our Working Group meets bi-monthly to discuss mountain literature, research, and art as it relates to our own on-going research. We are interested in all things vertical, from the depths of the ocean to tops of Himalayan peaks, and everything in between. We seek to promote interdisciplinary research and cooperation oriented towards vertical landscapes and ecosystems.
